Kiwis underestimate risk to future jobs say’s Caanz
Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand chief executive Lee White said it had estimated about 46 per cent of Kiwi jobs were at risk from automation within 20 years.
New Zealanders are underestimating the impact that automation and disruptive digital technologies such as driverless cars will have on their jobs.
A survey of 2300 New Zealanders that Caanz commissioned from Colmar Brunton suggested people saw only a “low to moderate risk” to their own livelihoods.
White was also encouraged by a Colmar Brunton finding that three-quarters of Kiwis believed training and “upskilling” was the responsibility of individuals or employers, rather than the Government.
