New Zealand Telecommunications Forum Announces New CEO Geoff Thorn

Geoff succeeds David Stone, who led the TCF through a challenging four and half year period, achieving industry consensus on key codes supporting the introduction of the UFB.

Geoff comes to the TCF with a regulatory background and an understanding of the legislative process. He was the senior manager at the Commerce Commission responsible for implementing the new regulatory regimes for Telecommunications, Electricity Lines, Gas and Dairy industries when these were introduced. He was later appointed as the Commission’s General Manager. He then moved to the Parliamentary Service as its General Manager where, among other things, he was responsible for upgrading the technology used by Parliament and the introduction of smart phones and tablets.

Geoff has an MBA with distinction and a MMgnt (Economics), both from Massey University.
