New Institute launches in Wellington
The New Zealand Institute of Procurement and Supply Incorporated has been established to deliver a focus on procurement and supply not only throughout New Zealand but on the global stage for practitioners.
NZIPS held its Wellington launch on Monday 14 July and was officially declared launched by Grant Robertson.
Executive Director Chris Carson says the aim is to promote and enhance procurement and to recognise what can be achieved if procurement is done right. The influence on the organisation’s ‘bottom line’ and ultimately New Zealand’s economy cannot be under estimated.
Board Chair Margaret Gilbert stated that NZIPS will be hosting a procurement conference in August 2015. She believes it’s time for procurement to be formally recognised as a profession in its own right, that It is time for procurement champions and for a procurement ‘voice’ to be heard at the Board table.
